Neighborhood development with flats close to the city
The Wehrhahn S-Bahn station for the urban railway is a prominent point in Düsseldorf, as it is the crossing point over the city’s central railway line and the boundary between several districts. As the southern end of “Le Quartier Central”, the project is part of one of NRW’s largest urban development projects and benefits from its central location and very good connections.
Based on a design by KSP Jürgen Engel Architekten, we have developed a complete residential block along the street here. Where there used to be isolated commercial buildings, the design now shows a closed perimeter block development of 17 interconnected six-storey houses with an additional penthouse storey. With a high-quality neighbourhood development in mind, we have placed as much emphasis on an attractive open space design and open pathways in the inner courtyard as on areas for local supply and a day-care facility for children. A total of around 470 privately financed and publicly subsidised housing units will be built here.
